After recently having a conversation with a shall we say family member who wishes to remain nameless I got to thinking about dark circles, wrinkles and ageing.
What remedies to we have to prevent or reduce the first signs of this ageing process that we must all go through?
So let's start with the dreaded wrinkles. Not only are these caused by the ageing process but they also be the result of sun exposure, weight loss, poor diet, not enough moisture, environmental pollutants or they can be hereditary. However, nature has given us a way to tackle the problem.
Some of the following may be helpful to you for preventing or delaying wrinkles. They have be known to work for many people throughout the years.
- Get into a routine of applying Aloe Vera Gel to your skin especially after sun exposure.
- If you skin is dry or needs extra moisture apply almond or coconut oil to clean skin before bed each night.
- Use cucumber to make a cooling fresh face mask. This can be left on for up to ten minutes. Then cleanse and dry your skin. (Don't forget to moisturise afterwards)
If you find your skin doesn't seem to be responding to the above you may want to try these tips;
- Mix up apple and pineapple juice and apply daily to your skin to brighten.
- Take a tablespoon of honey and a pinch of ginger before breakfast.
- Infuse Rosemary into boiled water roughly 16oz. Re-heat and leave to simmer for five minutes. Then (here's the surprising part) add 4oz of Brandy to the mixture. Strain the mixture into a clean sterilized container. Allow to cool and use morning and night on your skin. This surprisingly enough has been a well known "remedy" in the prevention of wrinkles.
Drinking plenty of water and taking enough fruit and veg in your daily diet also helps to keep the skin healthy through these natural antioxidants.

We all at some point in our life have them. Sometimes it's due to lack of sleep and can be easily remedied by a few nights good sleep/rest. However, if you're finding them problematic you may be interested in the following tips.
- Infuse basil leaves in water and apply to the dark areas morning and night.
- Mix up equal parts of Turmeric and ground sesame seeds and rub onto any skin discolouration.
- Grab a papaya, if handy of course, mash it up and apply the pulp to the dark skin.
- A really good treatment for the skin is to mix one tsp of cream with a handful of ground almonds (both can be bought at the local supermarket). Apply this to the skin much like you would a face mask not forgetting the neck. Leave on for fifteen minutes and then rinse off.
